Kung Fu Robot

I was reading this article where Tesla shared a video of their Optimus robot. What caught my attention most was the YouTube clip of a Kung Fu-style robot in action.

It got me thinking about the real-world applications for this kind of technology. While it’s fascinating, I believe we’re still a long way off from having RoboCop-style machines patrolling our streets—certainly not within my lifetime.

Browsing through the video’s comment section, a couple of remarks really stood out:

“I’m starting to think this would be a good babysitter for my teens,” – @steveweing

Not to get too political, but I’m not sure having a machine dishing out discipline to teenagers is the best idea. I can already picture the media headlines and the viral outrage.

Then there was a more grounded take:

“The next booming industries: robot repair, protective film installation for robots, robot maintenance, and other related services,” – @CHINAxiaobei

This one makes a lot of sense. These sorts of roles could generate new job opportunities across various sectors. Perhaps it’s less about machines replacing humans and more about old jobs evolving while new ones emerge.

What kind of roles do you think will disappear—and which new ones might appear—as robots like Optimus become more advanced?
